Principal Licensure

Program Completion

It is your responsibility to know the requirements and to make appropriate arrangements to complete these requirements, such as testing, for the state where you will seek licensure. States have websites dedicated to providing you with information. Professional licensure, certification, and salary benefit requirements vary from state to state and even district to district.

Depending upon your state, you may need to satisfy additional requirements for licensure, certification, and endorsement. It is your responsibility to understand and comply with requirements in the jurisdiction where you choose to work.

Colorado State University Pueblo, as a preparatory institution, cannot guarantee licensure, certification, endorsement or salary benefits.

The Educational Leadership program’s internship requirement is a minimum of 120 hours, however, each state has its own requirements.

If you need help with this process, please reach out to your professor. 120 hours are required, minimum, in the state of Colorado. All internship students will complete the course twice for a total of 6 credits.

It is important to understand the difference between degree requirements and certification requirements.

The Educational Leadership degree at CSUP requires a minimum of 120-hour internship experience, however, each state varies so check with your state department of education to verify.  We are willing to accommodate your request to document additional hours for licensure, and many students acquire more than 120 hours during the 6 hours of the internship to be safe. Colorado requires a few more steps in the principal licensure program, to include the PRAXIS exam.
