Resources for philosophy research

Research projects in philosophy draw on a number of sources. You may need to locate classic philosophical works (and translations), literary works, encyclopedias, biographies, essays, peer-reviewed articles, and books. There are six major branches of philosophy:

  • Metaphysics (the study of existence)
  • Epistemology (the study of knowledge)
  • Ethics (the study of morals and consequences)
  • Politics (the study of power and government)
  • Aesthetics (the study of art, beauty, and culture)
  • Logic (the study of reasoning and argument)
