Government resources

Government agencies are a valuable source of information when it comes to writing a business plan: various agencies collect data and publish reports on the state of various industries, consumers, economic growth, and careers.

Government documents are freely available, but can be difficult to locate. The CSU-Pueblo Library is a federal depository library, meaning it has a large collection of government documents available to borrow in print form. Government documents are also often available electronically.

Components of a business plan

A business plan is a  document which includes both a financial and market analysis of a proposed business. These plans are usually developed as part of a loan application or as a way of formally analyzing a proposed business enterprise. Typical elements in a business plan include:

  • Description of Product or Service
  • Business History
  • Market Analysis
  • Competition Analysis
  • Management
  • Financial Information
  • Strengths and Weaknesses
  • Growth Potential
