Film or Video

MLA 7th Edition

Basic Format:

Title. Director. Performers. Distributor, Year of Release. Format.

Example:

John Adams. Dir. Tom Hooper. Perf. Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney. HBO Films, 2008. DVD.


MLA 8th Edition

Basic Format:

Title. Directed by First Name Last Name, Distributor, Year of Release.

Example:

The Martian. Directed by Ridley Scott, Twentieth Century Fox, 2015. If citing an individual's work, begin with name. Other contributors may be listed after the director.

Scott, Ridley, director. The Martian. Performances by Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Twentieth Century Fox, 2015.
