Open Education Resources Panel -- January 2017
Several CSU-Pueblo instructors have created, modified, and used open textbooks to replace commercial options. During convocation week in the Spring 2017 semester, three panelists shared their experiences and advice:
Nicole Finkbeiner of Rice University’s OpenStax draws on her experiences working with faculty and schools across the U.S. to highlight the most effective strategies that encourage faculty to adopt, adapt, and create OER while protecting academic freedom. She also walks through a strategic planning model to plan, track, and produce effective and measurable results for our OER initiatives.
Together with the Rebus Community, the Open Textbook Network offers monthly Office Hours about open textbook writing and publishing. Office Hours are hosted online and open to everyone. Videos of past sessions are available on YouTube.
